shrimp gumbo, shrimp band-aid
I came across this neat new medical technology in Inc. Magazine the other day. This company called Hemcom Technologies has created a new band-aid product that is truly revolutionary. Essentially it is just a large band-aid wrap but it made of a crazy material called Chitosan which is created from the shells of shrimp! Talk about a unique sustainable resource that usually ends up being thrown away or used in compost.
Here is a little excerpt from the magazine “Chitosan carries a positive ionic charge, so it attracts blood which has a negative ionic charge; the results is that the bandage, seals a wound with a tight blood clot formation” I think its very innovative since they are using a natural by-product of shrimp shells to help heal your body.
The company has been smart in targeting the right audience… Currently the army has been buying them for every soldier since they are great for gunshot wounds
